Albert Fish was ironically considered "the man you would entrust your children with." Something that he used advantage of. He was very nice and gentle and obviously, a good liar. He was imprisoned many times, the first time for grand larceny(the offense of illegally taking the property of another) and after that was arrested 6 more times for random petty crimes. Each of these times the charges were dropped. He had also been institutionalized more than once.
Other than little Gracie Fish confessed was linked to the murder of 3 other children. Many of the children he was looking after and or lived near and he made friends with their parents. He took them for a ride and later into the woods where he killed them. After taking off of his clothes and calling Grace up to him he laughed while she cried and choked while he strangled her. Albert Fish confessed in the summer of 1928 and was sentenced to death by electrocution. After hearing the verdict Fish smiled and thanked the judge for this sentence, content with the way he would be "going out" burning with intense heat and happy.
Safety tips
- Even if someone looks friendly and nice they very well may not be. Grace Budd's parents entrusted their daughter with someone they knew less than 2 days.
- If a child is trying to get away from someone and looks frightened, call the authorities especially if the child is of a young age.
- Look into the background of your child's babysitter, Fish was arrested multiple times, someone you shouldn't want your young children around.
